A power of attorney lets you buy, sell or manage property in Türkiye without having to be physically present for every step. It is one of the most useful tools for international buyers — and we manage the whole process for you.
What Is a Power of Attorney For?
By giving a trusted representative or lawyer a limited, specific power of attorney, you authorise them to act on your behalf for defined tasks. For a purchase in Alanya this usually covers: obtaining a Turkish tax number, opening a bank account, arranging the mandatory valuation report, DASK earthquake insurance, signing the title transfer at the Land Registry, connecting utilities and, where relevant, the citizenship application.
How Is It Issued From Abroad?
You do not need to travel to Türkiye to issue a power of attorney. There are three valid ways:
- At a notary in Türkiye — the easiest option if you are visiting; issued the same day.
- At the Turkish Consulate or Embassy in your country — the consulate acts like a Turkish notary, and the document can be used in Türkiye with no further steps.
- At a local notary in your country — in this case the document needs an apostille and a sworn Turkish translation.
What Do You Need?
- Your passport (for a local notary, a notarised Turkish translation of the passport)
- Two biometric photos
- Your Turkish tax number (we can arrange it)
- The full name, ID/passport number and details of the person you will appoint
Costs
Notary and consulate fees for a property power of attorney are low — usually a small fixed fee plus translation. It is one of the cheapest parts of the whole transaction.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it safe to give someone power of attorney?
specific and limited when it is, yes. We draft the power of attorney to cover only the tasks needed for your transaction, so your representative can complete the purchase but has no authority beyond that. We always recommend working with a trusted, independent lawyer.
Can I cancel it?
Yes. A power of attorney can be revoked at any time through a notary.
